Blum has thrived at the University of Vigo

The As Redeiras residential building is UVigo’s new headquarters in O Berbés for institutional and academic use. 3 old fishermen’s houses joined and rehabilitated by Abalo Alonso, preserve the essence of the birth of a city.

The rehabilitation of the As Redeiras building has been carried out by the Compostela architecture studio Abalo Alonso. A finalist project in the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism that preserves the essence of these fishermen’s houses «We preserve the historical glue, of success that, regardless of the fact that it is now a single building, appreciate the traces of ancient constructions. A smaller containment or access, an emergency staircase and toilets and facilities on different floors, while other ducts are formulated more open, with a central area illuminated with zenith mode, where it is located to the main staircase, which connects or the rest of the spaces linked to both facades ».

In the central space of the building, illuminating the main stairs, Blum by arturo alvarez put the final touch on this institutional space.
